PARK CITY, Utah — This weekend marks the return of the Park City Song Summit, and with it comes four days of fabulous music provided by a star-studded lineup of musicians. But the summit isn’t just about the music. In partnership with artists, an art auction will be held to benefit the Park City Community Foundation’s Mental Wellness Alliance. In addition, all donations from attendees will go to local organizations that are focused on mental health and substance abuse.
The fundraising auction will feature a uniquely painted, handmade JW Bennett western hat by New Orleans-based artist and painter John Bukaty, and autographed by Warren Haynes, Jason Isbell, and Margo Price. Bukaty, known as one of the pioneers in live painting, whose socially conscious artwork can be found all across the country.
Sarah Kjorstad is the founder of JW Bennett, a company specializing in handmade hats for both men and women. Kjorstad was born and raised in Wyoming, and she comes from a long line of cowboys. From a young age, she learned the importance of hard work, determination, and staying connected to the land. These values have shaped her business; her hats reflect her classic style and cowboy heritage. Kjorstad is always on the lookout for distinctive ways of re-creating the Western hat and enjoys working with other artists in innovative ways.
“John Bukaty has a strong, lively and energetic voice through his art and I love how it plays organically with the hats,” said Kjorstad.
Bids for the JW Bennett painted hat and various other works of art that will be created over the weekend at The Lodges can be placed through an online silent auction through Tuesday, October 13th.
So, whether you’re a music fan or an art lover, stop by the Main & Sky Hotel to see the pieces on display and to support a great cause. And if you can’t make it to the summit, you can still bid on the auction online. Don’t miss your chance to own a piece of history while supporting a vital cause.
