Where are your products made?

We produce all our felt hats in Jackson Hole, WY in our studio using traditional techniques and age-old equipment.

Do you reshape hats?

Shipping

If I place my order today, when will it ship?

All felt hats are made to order and will ship within 4- 6weeks of your order. Straw hats will ship the next business day.

Can I choose to rush an order?

Please contact us if you would like your order to be rushed. We charge an additional fee for rush service.

How long does shipping take?

Domestic orders will ship via FedEx or UPS. Please allow up to 7 to 10 business days to receive your order after you receive tracking.

How will I know when my order ships?

You will receive an email with tracking when your order leaves our shop.

Can I choose to expedite shipping?

You may upgrade to expedited shipping for your order at checkout. Orders must be received by 12 PM MST Monday-Friday to ship the same day. Express orders placed after 12 PM MST on Friday will ship the following Monday.

Returns

What is your return policy?

At JW Bennett we firmly stand behind our product and handcraft while guaranteeing your satisfaction. Our return policy is simple, you have 14 days from the day you receive your purchase to exchange or return the item for store credit.

We take pride in the quality of our products and craftsmanship. Our policy is to ensure that your purchase reaches you in perfect condition. If, for any reason, the product does not meet your expectations, we are happy to offer an exchange or store credit.

We are unable to offer store credit on hats and bands that have been made to order or customized. However, we will work with you on the product and try to meet your needs should an order not meet your expectations. We will not produce a new hat for free or exchange the custom item.

For a return, contact us at sales@jwbennett.com using the subject “REQUEST RETURN”. Please include, the order number and the reason for the return in your message. Once we approve the return, your hat must be returned in the original JW Bennett hat box in the same condition you received it. The hat must be returned within 20 days from the date you received the hat.

We highly recommend that you insure and track your package. We are not responsible for any packages that are lost in shipping.

Once we receive and inspect the hat, we will contact you by email. We are unable to offer any exchanges or store credits on items that have been worn, marked or damaged.

How do I exchange an item?

For an exchange, contact us at sales@jwbennett.com using the subject “REQUEST EXCHANGE” within 14 days of receipt of your product. Add the description, size and color of the item you wish to exchange. We will send you a complimentary return-shipping label. We will send you a shopping cart for any price adjustment on the exchange order including shipping charges.

Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery on exchanges.

Do you accept returns on custom hats and bands?

We are unable to offer store credit on hats and bands that have been made to order or customized. However, we will work with you on the product and try to meet your needs should an order not meet your expectations. We will not produce a new hat for free or exchange the custom item.

When will I receive my Store Credit?

A store credit will be issued with a JW Bennett gift card within 5 days of receipt of the return. The refund will include the full value of the products returned, including US taxes and excluding shipping costs.

Can I return a hat purchased in your stores?

For ready to wear hats purchased in our Jackson or Park City retail stores, all sales are final. We are happy to adjust or re-shape a hat for a fee. Please contact us to schedule an appointment.

What is your holiday/gift return policy?

Orders placed between 11/14/22 and 12/24/22 qualify for our extended return policy. Returns will be accepted until 1/7/23.

Sizing

How do I measure my hat size?

You will need a string or cloth measuring tape. The goal is to measure where you would like to have your hat sit. Start from the center of the forehead, an inch above your eyebrows and wrap the measuring tape around your head, a finger width distance above your ears, to the most prominent point in the back of your head. Meet at the starting point in the center of your forehead. We recommend holding the tape loosely and measuring 3 times for accuracy.

How do I know if my hat fits?

Your hat should sit comfortably on your head without feeling pressure. To know if your hat fits properly, place your index finger between your forehead and the sweatband inside the hat. If you cannot fit your finger, the hat is too small and if you can fit more than one finger, your hat is too large. If you are in between sizes, we recommend sizing up and using a hat sizer to fill in the extra space.

I received my hat, yet it doesn’t fit perfectly, what are my options?

If a hat does not fit properly, we are happy to adjust the size. We will offer one complimentary resizing; any further size adjustments will incur an extra charge. Please email us to discuss your options.

Product Care

What is the best way to handle my hat?

When taking your hat on and off, hold it by the crown (top), or gently, by the brim.

How do I store my hat?

To maintain brim shape, we recommend storing your hat upside down, on its crown, or hanging it. You can store flat brimmed hats right side up.

Never leave your hat in a hot or damp place (think your car on a hot summer day), as this can cause your hat to shrink.

How do I keep my hat clean?

Grit and grease add character but if your hat does need a little polish, try a lint roller, fine grit sandpaper for small stains, or a horsehair hat brush to dust it off. Brush in a counter clockwise direction to maintain the grain of the fur.

What can I do if my hat gets wet?

Your hat is meant to be worn! Rain or shine. When it does get wet, let it dry naturally on your head or on your hook, no need to assist in any way.

How do I travel with my hat?

We recommend wearing your hat through the airport and then placing it inside the cotton bag you received with your purchase. You can place it in the overhead compartment as long as it will not be crushed by a suitcase, or you may hold it on your lap.
